Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Wesley Semi
Wesley Semi founded Moana Digital Health to give health systems one connected record from the clinic to the ministry. He leads the company’s strategy, its work with ministries of health and health authorities, and the direction of the Moana platform.
Born and raised in Samoa and based in Melbourne, Wesley has built Moana around a principle shaped by the health systems he grew up with: a platform must serve a national referral hospital and a small clinic with the same standard of care, whatever the network, and the data must remain with the people who collect it.
Under his leadership, Moana has grown from a single platform into an integrated suite covering the electronic health record, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, mobile and patient access, and national systems for disease surveillance, medical supply and clinical research. Moana is live across clinics in South Asia and the South Pacific, and has completed department by department configuration at a regional referral hospital in the Pacific.
Wesley writes on electronic health records, national health information systems, interoperability and implementation in health systems of every size.
Areas of focus: national health information systems, electronic health records, interoperability standards, health data sovereignty, implementation and change management.
