Platform
One electronic health record for every encounter, every role and every level of care.
MOANA EHR is the clinical record at the centre of the Moana platform. Registration, triage, consultation, orders, results, medication administration, admission, transfer and discharge all write to a single longitudinal record, so every clinician sees the same patient, the same history and the same plan.
Health systems fail when information is fragmented: a history on paper at one facility, a result filed at another.
For hospitals, health centres, clinics and private practices.
What it does
Worklists for every role, ranked by acuity, and more.
A worklist for every role
Each doctor and nurse opens to their own list for the shift, ranked by acuity, with the latest vitals and the next action for every patient.
Outpatient, inpatient and emergency
Registration, triage, admission, ward transfer and discharge run in one system, so the history follows the patient between departments.
Orders and results
Prescriptions, lab and imaging orders are tracked from request to result, and every result lands back in the record it was ordered from.
Medication administration
Nurses record each dose as given, held or missed against the prescriber’s order, with reasons and adverse events noted at the bedside.
Decision support at the bedside
Early warning scores calculated from vitals, allergy and interaction checks, and alerts that appear while the clinician is still in the record.
Referrals and clinical tasks
Internal and external referrals with priority and due times, and clinical tasks assigned to named staff with overdue items surfaced.
Critical and specialist care
Operating theatres, ICU and HDU, NICU, and specialty clinics including STI and HIV counselling and testing.
Registration from birth
Births and deaths registration, immunisation, antenatal care and health programmes, linked to each person’s record.
Paper to digital
Document scanning with OCR and digital versions of existing paper forms, with a person checking before anything is saved.

Overview
MOANA EHR
One record across outpatient, inpatient and emergency care.
Health systems rarely fail for lack of clinical skill. They fail when information is fragmented: a history held on paper at one facility, a result printed and filed at another, a prescription that never reaches the pharmacy.
MOANA EHR removes those gaps by giving each person one identity and one record that follows them across outpatient, inpatient and emergency care, and across every facility connected to the platform.
The record is structured from the first contact. Diagnoses are coded in ICD 10 and SNOMED CT, laboratory tests in LOINC and units in UCUM, so the same information supports bedside decisions, hospital management and national reporting without being entered twice.
Decision support runs inside the workflow rather than beside it: early warning scores are calculated from routine observations, allergy and interaction checks run before an order is signed, and critical results stay open until the responsible clinician acknowledges them.
Because the EHR is the foundation of the platform, every other Moana application reads from and writes to it. Laboratory, pharmacy, imaging, theatres, maternity and public health programmes share one patient context, which is what allows a health system to move from isolated records to a unified view of care.
In the product
The interface, as your teams will use it.
Every screen is the real Moana interface, shown with demonstration data.
Patient list. Every patient under the doctor’s care, filtered by inpatient, outpatient, emergency and critical.
How it works
How a patient moves through MOANA EHR.
- Registration and identityThe patient is searched for before a new record is created. The master patient index matches against existing identities, and a Health ID card can be printed and scanned at every return visit.
- Triage and assessmentEmergency and outpatient teams record structured triage and observations. Acuity is carried into every worklist that follows, so the sickest patients rise to the top.
- Consultation and ordersDoctors document the history, examination and coded diagnosis, then place laboratory, imaging and medication orders from the same screen with safety checks applied before signing.
- Results and decisionsResults return to the record they were ordered from. Abnormal and critical values are flagged against limits set by the laboratory and routed to the ordering clinician.
- Care, transfer and dischargeNurses administer and record every dose, wards hand over by shift, and the discharge summary is generated from what was recorded during the stay and shared with the referring facility.
Outcomes
What changes for your organisation.
Safer clinical decisions
Allergy, interaction and early warning checks run at the moment of decision, with every override recorded for review.
Continuity across facilities
Referrals carry the relevant history with the patient’s consent, and the receiving team sees who is coming before they arrive.
Less duplicated work
Data captured once at the bedside supports clinical care, billing, management reporting and national programmes.
Accountability by design
Every access, amendment and emergency access event is recorded against a named user and time.

Does MOANA EHR cover outpatient, inpatient and emergency care?
Yes. Outpatient visits, emergency triage and treatment, inpatient admission, ward transfer and discharge all run in the same record, so a patient’s history is complete wherever they are seen.
How does MOANA EHR support clinical safety?
Early warning scores are calculated from routine vitals, allergy and drug interaction checks run before an order is signed, and critical laboratory results stay open until the responsible clinician acknowledges them.
Can MOANA EHR be configured for a small clinic and a large hospital?
Yes. Facility service levels switch features on or off by facility type, so a health centre sees the tools it needs and a referral hospital sees its full clinical depth on the same platform.
Which coding standards does MOANA EHR use?
Diagnoses are coded in ICD 10 and SNOMED CT, laboratory tests in LOINC and units in UCUM, and the record is exchanged as FHIR R4 resources.
