Platform

Maternal, newborn and child health on one linked record.

Antenatal care, births, newborn and special care, growth monitoring and immunisation are recorded in one place and linked to both mother and child. Every birth creates the child’s own record and contributes to the birth registry without a second data entry.

An antenatal card at a health centre, a delivery note at a hospital, a vaccination card at home: the first thousand days are when records are most likely to be lost.

For maternity units, newborn care, child health clinics and immunisation programmes.

What it does

Linked mother and child records, and more.

  • Antenatal care

Antenatal visits, risk factors and observations carried through to delivery.

  • Birth registration

Each birth creates the child’s own record, linked to the mother, and enters the birth registry.

  • Newborn and special care

Special care nursery admissions with APGAR scores, observations and a live feed for the unit.

  • Immunisation

Schedules and due lists by child, so missed vaccinations are visible.

  • Growth monitoring

Growth charts plotted from routine measurements at every visit.

  • Registries

Birth and death registries and programme registries that report upward without a second data entry.

Overview

Maternal and Child Health

Antenatal care, births, newborn care and immunisation.

The first thousand days of life shape lifelong health, and they are also when records are most likely to be lost: an antenatal card at a health centre, a delivery note at a hospital, a vaccination card at home. Moana links each stage to the mother’s and child’s records so the history is complete for every clinician and every programme.

Antenatal visits record risk factors and observations through to delivery. Each birth is registered at the point of care, creating the child’s record with APGAR scores and linking it to the mother. Admissions to the special care nursery or NICU are followed with observations and a live unit feed.

Immunisation schedules generate due lists by child, and growth charts are plotted from routine measurements at every visit.

Because births, deaths, immunisations and programme data come directly from care, registries and indicators report upward without a separate data collection exercise.

How it works

How a mother’s and child’s records move through Moana.

  1. Antenatal visitsRisk factors and observations recorded through to delivery.
  2. Birth registeredAt the point of care, creating the child’s record with APGAR scores, linked to the mother.
  3. Special careAdmissions to the special care nursery or NICU followed with observations and a live unit feed.
  4. Immunisation and growthDue lists by child, and growth charts plotted at every visit.
  5. Registries report upwardBirths, deaths, immunisations and programme data, without a separate data collection exercise.

Outcomes

What changes for your organisation.

  • Complete maternal histories

Antenatal, delivery and postnatal care are linked across facilities.

  • Every child counted

Birth registration at the point of care feeds the registry directly.

  • Fewer missed vaccinations

Due lists by child make missed doses visible to the team.

  • Programme reporting from care

Indicators are calculated from routine records rather than tally sheets.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Ask us something else

Does Moana register births?

Yes. Each birth is registered at the point of care, creating the child’s own record linked to the mother and entering the birth registry.

Does Moana track immunisations?

Yes. Immunisation schedules generate due lists by child, and administered doses are recorded with lot, dose number, route and site.
