ANGAU Medical Records configured to generate national returns from the clinical record

At ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital, clinical reporting is compiled and verified in the Medical Records office before it is submitted at provincial and national level. Medical Records and MIS are mapped and configured in Moana, with go live at ANGAU expected in the coming weeks.
National health planning depends on the reliability of the data that reaches it. In many hospitals, monthly returns are tallied by hand from registers that each unit keeps separately, so a figure in a national report is difficult to trace to the patients it represents.
Reports from documented encounters
Working with ANGAU and the Morobe Provincial Health Authority, Moana mapped the hospital’s national reporting obligations with the Medical Records team in the MIS department. Reports are configured to be generated from documented patient encounters rather than separate tallies, in the existing national return format, so that each figure can be traced to its source record.
Data governance and approval
Access to sensitive programme data is restricted by role. Every report is reviewed and approved by the Officer in Charge before release. The same model applies to any hospital or health facility that reports against national returns.
