ANGAU Emergency Department and Registration configured for patient identification and triage

The Emergency Department and Registration were the first clinical areas mapped at ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital. Both are now mapped and configured in Moana, with go live at ANGAU expected in the coming weeks.
As the regional referral hospital for the Momase region, ANGAU receives patients from four provinces through a small number of entry points. How a patient is identified, triaged and registered at the door determines the quality of every record that follows.
Built on existing practice
The mapping was carried out with ANGAU’s clinical and records staff, starting from the hospital’s existing triage and registration instruments, so that the configuration follows established practice.

It covered referral pathways into the hospital, patient movement between facilities, and patient identification across inpatient and outpatient care, including master patient index matching, duplicate detection, validation and audit.
Governance and interoperability
The sessions also addressed data sovereignty, with health data remaining under the control of ANGAU and the Morobe Provincial Health Authority. They covered role based access, bed and ward visibility across the hospital, and integration pathways for existing clinical equipment using FHIR R4 and HL7.
