Pharmacy at ANGAU

ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital has chosen the Moana Pharmacy Management System for its pharmacy. The department is mapped and configured in Moana, with go live at ANGAU expected in the coming weeks.

The production ready system was reviewed with Sebastian, Officer in Charge of Pharmacy, and the department’s requirements were captured and configured.

Supply and inventory

The configuration covers the origin of supply and its linkage to the warehouse, inventory and stock control, ward supply and returns, adjustments, and returned and damaged stock. Supplier management, purchase orders, batch receipting and expiry monitoring are held in the same system.

Medication safety

A prescription is received against the patient record and screened against recorded allergies and medication history, with any finding presented by severity tier. Clinical judgement remains with the pharmacist, and nothing is issued without pharmacist authorisation.

Recalls, cold chain and controlled drugs

Recalls are supported with tracing of exposed patients. Cold chain records and the controlled drugs register are maintained in the system, and reporting covers safety, service, inventory and clinical measures.
